My girl is turning 10

Monday will be Katie's 10th birthday. This is it. Double digits. Almost a teenager. Having a daughter on that cusp is a complete world of difference than when my oldest son turned 10. There are so many differences in the world since then, and most are not good. It is a different kind of protecting I want to do, without really being able to put it into words. Tonight she is away on her first overnight camp away from home, with her Girl Scout troop. She is so excited, and so mature about it all, yet she still took her stuffed animal she sleeps with every night. See, right on the cusp. I just want to grab on and not let go.
